WIC (Women Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program)
What is WIC?
WIC provides supplemental food, nutrition counseling and support services for eligible pregnant, post partum and breastfeeding women and for children under the age of five.
What does WIC offer?
- Food vouchers for specific food items
- Nutrition counseling and education by a registered dietician
- Breast feeding and infant nutrition classes and support
- Breast pump loan program
- Referrals to health and community services
- Farmers Market coupons June-September
Who is eligible?
Women and children (and children of single fathers) who reside in Alameda County and whose income is less than 185% of the federal poverty level are eligible for WIC.
